Oke Advocates Education as a Panacea for Poverty and Insecurity.



As the world mark International Day of Education on January 24, Imeko-Afon Local Government Chairman charged youths to embrace Education as it is a panacea for poverty and insecurity.

The newly sworn in Council boss, Chief Olusola Oke marked the United Nations International Day of Education with pupils and students of Ansarudeen Primary School and Nazareth High School in Imeko.

He shared with the future leaders how Education is humanity's greatest renewable resource and also affirmed the role of Education as a viable means to empower people, preserve the planet, build shared prosperity and foster peace.

In his words, "quality education is goal number 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals and we remain committed to this" he said. Oke who was accompanied by other members of the Local Government Transition Committee reaffirmed Ogun State Governor's commitment to improving the standard of education to the teachers and students; a vision he claimed the Local Government has keyed into.

International Day of Education is celebrated globally today 24th January as proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.
